End of the Soccer Season

Today marked the end of our fall soccer season. The previous day's weather delayed the game by two hours which was nice because it was warmer for the kids. It was a tough game for our team because we played what seemed to be the best team of the season. The team only had 4 players who played the entire game. There were two young boys (blue shirts) who dominated the whole game. Their abilities seemed almost World Cup level (at least when compared to our children). I know it sounds ridiculous but when you watch two boys who are no older than 5 pass to each other while running down the field, change directions on a dime without losing the ball and slide while kicking the ball into the goal, you have to marvel. We were impressed when our players could actually get the ball away from these two. Lexi had the job of defender today and they gave her a run for her money. She would charge them as they came down the field anticipating their oncoming attack and they would fake her out, go in a different direction and score. Lexi did manage to get in there and get the ball away from them and AJ even tried to get in on the action which was quite surprising. It was nice to watch the younger players come out of their shells and to watch the older players challenged. All in all, it was a good game and an enjoyable end to season.
