Mojave National Preserve protects one of four deserts systems found in the United States. Its elevation range (800 - 7900 ft above sea level) allows for 30 different habitats from Desert Dunes to Pinyon-Juniper Woodlands. We were able to drive along a portion of the Mojave Road which is a natural travel corridor used by Amercian Indians long before the area was discovered by Europeans. The highlight of the trip for the kids (since AJ slept through most of the park) was Kelso Depot. They were able to explore the inside of an old depot and its museum which had several hands-on exhibits.
