If You Could Live in a Movie

Today was a busy day, a day that got away from me.  From the moment I opened my eyes and mentally slapped myself for scheduling an early veterinarian's appointment to the moment I could have kicked myself for eating fast food at the kitchen table well after lunch time, this day seemed to have a mind of its own.

The way too early appointment led to goofing off in Target.  By the way, the Panthers hat has only left his head to sleep, to eat, and to take a shower this morning (and for a brief photo op with his sister).  It has become his video game playing hat, his watching Hank Hill hat, his drawing hat, and his writing a prologue for the Republic Commando series while sitting in his underwear hat.

A way too long doctor's appointment led to an almost trip to Petsmart that involved a u-turn in the parking lot and a return trip to the vet.  Once Sophie was released, we made our trip to Petsmart to return Noodles, the catfish, who lived about 30 hours.  Noodles was replaced by a fish from a newly delivered pallet of boxes.  Who knew that fish traveled in cardboard boxes, shrink wrapped, and loaded like Legos on a pallet?  It speaks volumes that Noodles died in our tank, but survived this harrowing trek.

It swam in a plastic covered school with other plastic covered schools, encased in temperature controlling foil, taped in boxes, and shrink wrapped on a pallet like Legos.  There's a Dr. Seuss story in there somewhere.

While guiltily power eating my linner or would it be my dunch, I learned that I have yet another pet who must be cut off from certain locations in the house in order to preserve my sanity and his safety.  I don't think he likes competing for the kids' attention or maybe he's just hungry.

And because I don't have enough pets to maintain, here is a school portrait of our newest pets.  From bottom left to top right (the black shape above the spotted one's tail), we have Joey, LB (short for Laser Blaster), Bobby, and Mr. Whiskers.

While folding laundry that was supposed to be folded before we left for the way too early vet's appointment, I noticed an Ewok in the front yard.  He brought a friend as well as his leaders.

Rescue puma is having a hard time with this invasion.  First there are fish being named after him and he who lumbers, and now there are mini Ewoks setting up shop in his house.  Well he'll show them.  He's taking over their house.

Wait! Didn't I establish that as my domain?

Rescue puma's girlfriend is now on a high calorie, high protein diet to counteract her weightloss.  She's getting back to her wilderness wolf roots by eating salmon and chicken.  She'll also be eating the rustic wolf diet of turkey and chicken, duck and chicken, as well as chicken and trout.  Right now, this stuff is like dog crack.  Two tablespoons mixed in with her kibble and she eats so fast she starts to choke herself.  While mixing her second helping at dinner, the rustic wolf drooled all over my hand as she hovered 2.68 millimeters away from the bowl.

Somehow, possibly poor planning and time management, this day got away from me.  But for all my sarcasm, it was a day filled with giggles, thankfulness, and little ooVoo moments that make me smile.  I wouldn't change it for the world, well maybe for a kiss from someone far away, but not much else.

As an aside, the philosophical question for the day is:  If you could spend the rest of your life in a movie, and never leave, what movie would it be?  Bet you'll never guess what Socrates answered...Episode II, but really just the whole Star Wars world.  Guess that's why he writes prologues in his underwear.
